HCS Waiver Program

The HCS program provides community- based services and supports to eligible persons as an alternative to the  Intermediate Care Facilities for Persons with Mental Retardation (ICF/MR) program. Services are available to persons living in their own home and living with their family or paid companion. Services may also be provided to persons living in small group homes where no more than four persons may live.

Services

  • Adaptive Aids

                   – Devices, controls, or appliances that enable users to retain or to
                       increase their abilities to perform daily living activities or control their environment.
                       Adaptive aids assist with mobility, communication, or treat, rehabilitate, prevent, or
                       compensate for conditions resulting in disability or loss of function.

  • Minor Home Modifications

                   – Assess the need for, arrange for, and modify or improve
                       living quarters to allow community living and ensure safety, security, and accessibility.

  • Counseling and Therapies (includes audiology; speech/language pathology, occupational or physical therapy; dietary services; social work; and psychology)
  • Dental Treatment

                     – Emergency, preventive and therapeutic dental     

                         treatment, including routine exams.

  • Day Habilitation

                     – Helps people learn, retain, and improve their self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills so they can live successfully in the

                         community.

  • Supported Employment

                     – Helps to sustain paid employment for people who, because of their disability, require intensive, ongoing support to perform

                         in a work setting. Supported employment must be provided at work sites in which people without disabilities are also

                         employed. Services include adaptations, supervision and training, as related to the individual’s diagnosis.
